Bringing Vocational training Skills Center for Youths Empowerment.

A Story of Skills, Hope, and a Brighter Future for Our Youth
For the past four years, Community Hope Initiative (CHI) has been on a powerful journey of transforming lives through skills development. With determination, community support, and strong partnerships, we have successfully imparted vocational skills to 416 youths in Bricklaying, Tailoring, Hairdressing & Salon Management, and Motorbike Mechanics. These skills have not only created livelihoods but restored dignity, confidence, and hope among vulnerable and less-privileged young people.
Today, we are proud to share an exciting new milestone.
Community Hope Initiative is preparing to establish a state-of-the-art Vocational Training Centre—a vibrant hub of practical learning and innovation. The centre will offer high-demand courses in Carpentry and Joinery, Electrical Installation, Bricklaying, Tailoring, Welding and Fabrication, and Computer Studies. This expansion marks a bold step toward reaching even more youths and equipping them with market-ready skills for self-employment and decent work.
This dream is becoming a reality thanks to the generous support of Tools With a Mission (TWAM), a UK-based donor that has provided essential and high-quality training tools. In partnership with TEVETA, the centre will be fully stocked with the required equipment to ensure quality, accredited, and hands-on vocational training.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Tools With a Mission (TWAM), Stitching Afrika Zwolle Foundation, and Living Way Foundation for coordinating and supporting this incredible effort. Acquiring such expensive and specialized tools would not have been possible without your commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development.
At CHI, we believe that skills change lives. This vocational training centre is more than a building—it is a pathway to opportunity, resilience, and a future where young people become creators of solutions, not victims of circumstance.

Community Hope Initiative Enhance Youth empowerment through Vocational trainings

CELEBRATING A BIG MILESTONE FOR OUR YOUTH!

Community Hope Initiative is excited to share a remarkable achievement in our journey of empowering young people across Malawi. Since 2020, we have successfully trained 416 youths in various vocational skills — opening doors to opportunities, dignity, and self-reliance.

Last year, in 2024, we applied for vocational training tools from TWAM (Tools With a Mission), and we were blessed with much-needed equipment including tailoring machines, knitting machines, accessories, and bricklaying tools.

This year, 2025, we submitted another application — and once again, TWAM has supported us with an even wider range of materials for Carpentry & Joinery, Tailoring, Electrical Installation, Computer Studies, Bricklaying, and Agricultural training.

We are thrilled to announce that all these materials have safely arrived in Malawi and have already been collected from Living Way Foundation in Chipoka, Salima.

With this incredible support, our vision is becoming a reality.
We are now working towards establishing a fully furnished Vocational Training Centre that will host all these trainings, including Welding & Fabrication and a fully equipped ICT Computer Lab.

This centre will be a beacon of hope — a place where young people can learn, create, innovate, and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

🙏 A huge THANK YOU to our amazing partners:
  TWAM (Tools With a Mission)

   Living Way Foundation
   Stitching Afrika Zwolle Foundation
   TEVETA
And every partner who continues to believe in and support our mission.

Together, we are shaping futures. Together, we are building hope. 💙

Food Security

Enhancing food security project

Community Hope Initiative Boosts Farmers with Solar Irrigation Pumps

This week, Community Hope Initiative (CHI) took another step towards strengthening food security in Malawi. We donated 10 solar irrigation pumps—five to self-help groups in Lilongwe (T/A Kalolo, Liwinga area) and five to self-help groups in Mzimba (Enukweni, Kavula area).

These pumps were given to the 10 Self Help Groups (SHGs) formed this year under our food security project. Unlike the previous winter farming project that relied on petrol engine pumps—which often faced challenges due to fuel shortages—the new solar-powered pumps provide a sustainable and cost-effective solution.

One farmer shared with excitement: “With these solar pumps, we can irrigate our crops without worrying about fuel. This will help us grow more food and support our families better.”

At CHI, we believe that empowering communities with sustainable technologies is the path to lasting change. Together, we are working to end hunger and improve livelihoods—one pump at a time.

A visit to Enukweni/Kavula in Mzimba with Government Officials

A Day of Hope and Impact: Government Officials Visit Community Hope Initiative Projects in Enukweni and Kavula

On 7th July 2025, Community Hope Initiative proudly hosted a high-level delegation of government officials from the District Gender Office, Youth Office, Social Welfare, and Community Development on a special field visit to project sites in Enukweni and Kavula.

🌟 First Stop: Empowering Youth Through Skills
The tour began at the motorbike mechanic training centre, where youths are undergoing a life-changing vocational program. With just two months into their training, the young trainees showcased exceptional skills—going beyond expectations. It was inspiring to witness their enthusiasm and hands-on expertise as they confidently worked on motorbike engines. The progress is nothing short of impressive, offering these young people a real chance at economic independence.

🌿 Second Stop: Cultivating Prosperity Through Farming
Next, the delegation visited Mr. Gumbo Kasambara, one of the lead farmers supported by Community Hope Initiative alongside 49 others. His vibrant winter farm was a true testimony to hard work and transformation. Rows of green maize, beans, peas, sweet potatoes, cabbages, pumpkin leaves, and other cash crops painted a picture of hope and abundance. Mr. Kasambara shared how farming has not only improved his household diet but also increased his income—reflecting the ripple effect on the wider community.

👥 Final Gathering: Voices of Change at Kavula
The final stop was a community gathering at Kavula Primary School Grounds, bringing together members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), vocational training graduates, farmers, and local leaders. Here, stories of transformation flowed freely. SHG members spoke passionately about how the groups have empowered them economically. Youths shared how vocational training has opened doors to employment. Farmers expressed how their lives have changed through modern agricultural practices.

🎤 Community Leader Mr. Zaya Mhango gave a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the tremendous role Community Hope Initiative has played in uplifting the lives of his people.

This visit was more than just a field trip—it was a celebration of progress, resilience, and partnerships that work. For Community Hope Initiative, it marks yet another milestone that strengthens ties with government and reinforces our mission to create lasting change.

A moment with our Donors during their visit to Malawi

A Moment of Pride: Our Donors Witness the Impact of Community Hope Initiative!

This past week, Community Hope Initiative had the honor of hosting a delegation from the Netherlands, including representatives from our esteemed donor, Stichting Afrika Foundation, also representing Wild Ganzen. The delegation comprised two donors and five university students conducting research as part of their academic projects. Their visit was inspired by the powerful reports and success stories they have read about our work, and we were eager to showcase the real impact of their support on the ground.

The monitoring visit commenced in Lilongwe, Traditional Authority Kalolo, where our visitors engaged with key stakeholders, including the District Youth Officer for Lilongwe, Kalolo Youth Network, community leaders, and other partners who collaborate with Community Hope Initiative. The discussions, testimonies, and on-the-ground experiences provided firsthand insight into how their generous contributions are transforming lives.

We are overjoyed to report that the visit was a tremendous success! Our donors were deeply moved by the life-changing impact their support has made, strengthening our already strong partnership. Their belief in our mission has been reaffirmed, as every story they encountered reflected resilience, empowerment, and sustainable change within the communities we serve.

The journey continues in the Northern Region of Malawi, where one visit has already taken place, and we eagerly anticipate upcoming engagements in Mzimba and Nkhatabay. This experience is a testament to the power of collaboration, dedication, and faith in community-driven development.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our visitors for making this journey and to everyone who plays a role in the success of Community Hope Initiative. Above all, we thank God for guiding this mission and blessing us with partners who share our vision of a thriving and self-reliant Malawi.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this remarkable journey of impact and transformation!

Team Building Meeting

Together We Rise–Strengthening Teamwork for Impactful Change

At Community Hope Initiative, we believe that the strength of any organization lies in its people — their passion, collaboration, and shared commitment to creating lasting change in the communities we serve.

To maintain this spirit and stay on track with our mission, our leadership and staff regularly come together in wider management and review meetings. These sessions are more than just routine check-ins — they are spaces of open dialogue, accountability, shared learning, and strategic planning. Together, we reflect on our progress, evaluate our challenges, and map out practical steps toward achieving our goals.

During a recent meeting, the team gathered to review our ongoing action plans, assign responsibilities, and track the implementation of key activities. It was also a time to celebrate the progress being made in areas like youth empowerment, women’s economic development, climate-smart agriculture, and child protection. Each team member had an opportunity to share updates, provide feedback, and bring fresh ideas to the table.

📸 In the photos: Scenes from our recent team meeting – the faces behind the force driving Community Hope Initiative’s impactful projects.

These gatherings not only keep everyone aligned but also inspire a deeper sense of ownership and unity. They remind us that every project, every milestone, and every impact story begins with teamwork — with people sitting around a table, dreaming big, planning smart, and holding each other accountable.

The leadership of Community Hope Initiative is proud of this team — a family of changemakers who work tirelessly to build hope, empower lives, and create a better tomorrow for communities across Malawi.

We’re not just building projects. We’re building a legacy of transformation — together.
